Ishinashi

Nature/Japan Heritage
The cone of the ishinashi (wild pear) is eaten after the white flowers bloom in spring. We can feel the value that was placed on the blessings of the mountain from ancient times. The plant came to be called ishinashi (literally "stone pear") due to the hardness of the fruit, but it is considered to be a type of Ussurian pear. This plant has been designated a Natural Monument by the village.
