Kaido site is representative of the Middle Jomon Period (c. 3,500?2,500 BC) that flourished around Suwa Lake. One of the masterpieces of Kaido site is a pottery vessel with a human face decoration attached to the rim that dates to the Middle Jomon Period and was designated a National Important Cultural Property in 1989. This pottery is internationally famous as it has been loaned to overseas exhibitions in Germany, France, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Vietnam.
