Umenoki Site Park
Museum
Umenoki site is one of the major settlement sites around Mt. Yatsugatake from the Middle Jomon Period (c. 3,500?2,500 BC). Approximately 150 pit dwellings were discovered at this site, as well as a footpath leading to a river. It was designated National Historic Site in 2014. Umenoki Site Park was established in April 2018. The visitor center contains a small exhibition room, and provides restrooms (for men, women, and a multipurpose restroom) and a rental wheelchair. At this site park, a number of volunteers are involved in the reconstruction of pit dwellings to rebuild an authentic Jomon landscape.
