Katakori dogu (clay figurine with stiff neck)

Cultural Heritage/Japan Heritage
A type of posing dogu (clay figurine) from the early-middle Jomon period, excavated from the Katsurano site. The figure, which seems to be a pregnant woman who is massaging her own stiff neck, has a very realistic expression. A few other fragments of similar-looking posing dogu have also been discovered at the Katsurano site.
